HERE BEGINS THE EXODUS

I have been alarmed at the level that social media has taken over my life. A moment of down time or discomfort or fatigue and boom, that box is in my hand and I am scrolling over the worst tendencies available to humans. I am addicted. I am powerless against a machine that has been designed to learn my mind and use it against me to capitalize on my attention and freedom. This is the opposite of the state of yoga. It is unsettling, painful, and destructive to my sense of my own dharma. What started out as a beautiful way to connect with friends in foreign places and helped me find trainings and teachers has become a demon I must face. I have been afraid of losing people that have become a central part of my life by withdrawing from social media. Scared of losing my relevance as a teacher or a forgotten friend. It is a mandate for a yoga practitioner to face recognized fears however, and it is my intention over the next few months to assemble an email list to connect with people who actually want to hear from me and communicate with me. If you are one of those people please share your email address with me at Ybyogikim@yahoo.com

Many thanks,

Kim
